The right-back is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and can enter into talks in January and is seemingly a player Arsene Wenger would like to draft in to boost his defensive options.

The 30 year old has won three successive Serie A titles and has been a regular in the Juventus starting eleven and is a player of real quality and could provide back-up for new signingMathieu Debuchy, who is currently out injured.

Prior to his time in Turin Lichtsteiner spent three years at Lazio and is a hugely proficient performer who could be either be brought in ‘on the cheap’ when the transfer window reopens or on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Arsenal brought in youngster Calum Chambers over the summer but the Southampton man is arguably a better prospect at centre-back than on the flank.
