Valdes Liverpool: Free agent keeper on Anfield radar
Belgian international Mignolet has come in for a fair amount of criticism in recent months and it appears Rodgers is ready to bring in an alternative shot-stopper in the form of highly rated Spaniard Casilla.
Former Real Madrid man Casilla has been in fine form at Espanyol over the past 18 months and has forced his way into Vicente del Bosque’s national team set-up behind Man United’s David de Gea and veteran Casillas, but could well be ready for a high-profile move to Merseyside.
Liverpool had a very leaky defence last term but overcame that issue with a hugely effective attack, a factor that is less evident this season.
Mignolet has kept just two clean sheets in his last 19 Liverpool appearances.
