Police have dropped charges levelled at Mario Balotelli for abusing a woman taking pictures of his Ferrari, BBC Sport has confirmed.

The Maverick Italian forward has enjoyed a torrid start to his Liverpool career, and had seemingly got himself in hot water off the pitch after a woman went to the police and accused of him of verbal abuse last week.

According to the unnamed woman, the 24-year-old forward unleashed a torrent of expletives after she stood by the side of the road and took pictures of his super car on her camera phone.

The accuser is a resident in the Wythenshawe area of Manchester, but she has decided not to lodge a formal complaint, and the matter has been dropped without any further questions.

Balotelli will hope to end his goalless run this evening, with the Reds taking on Swansea City in the League Cup at Anfield.
