According to The World Game, Mabil is on the radar of the Eredivisie club, but Adelaide manager Josep Gombau will have the final say over whether or not the 19-year-old will head to Amsterdam.
The Kenyan-born South Sudanese refugee described Gombau as a “father figure” following the Reds’ 2-0 win over Perth on Sunday.
According to the report, Adelaide refused to comment on Ajax’s possible interest.
Ajax currently sit second on the Eredivisie table, a point off leaders PSV Eindhoven.
