In that campaign the North London outfit went the entire season without losing a single match – something that had never happened before or since in the Premier League.
Manchester United have come the closest to matching the feat, going 24 matches unbeaten in 2010/11 before eventually losing to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Yet Vieira says this current Blues side under manager Jose Mourinho can achieve what the team he skippered did more than 10 years ago.
“I think a team will do better than that, but how long it will take we don’t know? Maybe, Chelsea,” the Frenchman was quoted by the Mirror.
“I think one day that record will be beaten. I think that Chelsea look really promising. They have not specially played well but they keep winning and they look really strong.”
So far in 2014/15 the West Londoners have won seven of their eight league matches and are already many peoples’ favourites to lift the title come May.
Mourinho purchased Spain internationals Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas over the summer and both have played a big part in the side’s impressive form so far this term.
