A complaint has been lodged by Pires’ club FC Goa. The opposition team Atletico de Kolkata have also submitted their side of the story to the Indian Super League.
FC Goa are managed by former Brazil legend Zico. After the match he told reporters, “The other thing that happened which is more serious is that one of our players said that he was beaten by the coach of the other team.
“Pires said he was punched on the face by the Atletico coach and it is very shameful.
“I am telling you what my players told me and I didn’t see that myself but I don’t think that Pires will lie and say something that didn’t happen.”
The ISL have said that they will be investigating the incident. Meanwhile Kolkata co-owner Utsav Parekh has confirmed that there is CCTV footage of the punch that will be utilised to settle the dispute.
FC Goa last the match 2-1 to a stoppage time winner by Kolkata, who currently top the Indian Super League.
