Wenger said, “Gibbs is the best left back in the Premier League at the moment. He is consistent and has gained something in his stature.”

The England international has been less affected by injuries this season than he has in recent years, allowing him to play more regularly. Playing these extra games seems to have brought the best out of the 25-year-old and he has been in great form.

A product of the Arsenal academy, the left-back made his debut for the club back in 2007. Since then he has made 154 appearances for the Gunners, scoring four goals. He made his senior England debut in August 2010 and has played four times for his country.

With his great form and competitor Luke Shaw’s troubles, he could well be the next in line to challenge Leighton Baines for the regular left-back slot in the national team.
