Rudiger, 20, currently plays for Stuttgart and is billed as one of the best young centre-backs in the world. He had recently been the subject of speculation that a £7 million deal to Chelsea was near completion.
However this talk seems to have been slowed by these recent comments.
“I have always dreamed of the Premier League. I have been following Arsenal since the days of Henry and Bergkamp,” Rudiger was quoted by the Metro.
“I watch videos of Arsenal all the time on YouTube and I often wear the current Alexis Sanchez shirt. My heart beats for Arsenal.”
This will be heartening news for Gooners, who will have been worrying about the lack of centre-backs their team currently has, with Per Mertesacker and Calum Chambers are their only fit players in the position.
Rudiger would be a great signing for the North Londoners, that is if manager Arsene Wenger follows up on these comments.
