Arsene Wenger has long been linked with an interest in the 26 year old and having seen his side secure just two wins from their opening eight Premier League fixtures the French manager will look to tempt the former Real Madrid man to leave Naples for north London.
By all accounts Higuain is unhappy with life at the San Paolo which is perhaps unsurprising after Rafa Benitez’s side failed to negotiate a path through the qualifiers and into the Champions League group stages and are sitting some way off the Serie A title pace to boot.
Arsenal invested over £50m to bring in Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez over the summer but subsequently lost Olivier Giroud to a long term injury whilst Theo Walcott is feeling his way back from his own lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Napoli paid £32m for Higuain in July 2013 and will demand a similar fee from Arsenal in January.
Higuain has netted 27 goals in 55 appearances for Napoli and racked up 122 goals in seven seasons at the Bernabeu and could be tempted by a move to the Premier League.
