Gunners considering move for Saints midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.
Arsenal are set to reignite their interest in Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin once the January transfer window opens, report the Mirror, but the £25m-rated Frenchman’s price could’ve gone up even further on account of the fine start to the Premier League season made by both the player and his club, who thrashed Sunderland 8-0 this weekend.

Schneiderlin had looked close to a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer and seemed to be pushing his club to let him go – but the Frenchman was the one player who the Saints hierarchy simply refused to budge on when it came to keeping them at St. Mary’s, with the likes of Dejan Lovren, Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana sold with far less resistance.
Rated as one of the finest defensive midfielders in the Premier League, Schneiderlin has been with Southampton since they were in League One and is seen as the club’s most important player, despite the impressive performances of summer signings Dusan Tadic and Graziano Pelle.
The report suggests that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been handed a blank chequebook for the January transfer window, with Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Marcelo Brozovic also linked, but Schneiderlin would really seem to fit the bill of what Arsenal need – a tough, dynamic defensive midfield presence.
