Watch the video of the amazing race during the Wales – Bosnia-Herzegovina game on Friday night.
Bosnian midfielder Muhamed Besic moved to Everton after an eye-catching performance at the World Cup, but there was a moment in the Wales Bosnia games yesterday that caused most viewers to question the quality of their vision.
With the score at 0-0, Gareth Bale was released on the counter following a corner, and with space to run opened up his legs as we’ve seen him do so many times before.

Once he’s at top speed, the Welshman is pretty much un-catchable, and all you can do is foul him as he streaks past you, or simply hope he misses the goal when he arrives in your penalty box 0.06 seconds later. But Everton new boy Besic had other plans.
The midfielder is a tempo-controlling defensive midfielder, and is rarely seen at top speed, but he showed astonishing pace to catch Bale, move alongside him and then lunge with a perfectly timed slide tackle just as the Welshman is about to break away.
