De Gea has enjoyed a wonderful start to the Premier League season for Manchester United, with a notably brilliant display against Everton at Old Trafford recently, something that has only served to enhance his reputation in Spain, where he is still remembered for the talented young prospect he was whilst at the Vicente Calderon.

United are sure to resist any overtures from Real for de Gea, but the fact that he is a Madrid boy and is being chased by a club who have proven to be a lure for players from that part of the world should be of huge concern to the club and its supporters.

United made de Gea one of the most expensive goalkeepers in history when they signed him from Atletico more than three years ago and are likely to want to make a significant profit on the player, considering his development at Old Trafford, so it remains to be seen whether Real are willing to pay bid for a man who could step into the shoes of Casillas, who has been in poor form for some time now, for a number of years.
