The 32-year-old, currently on loan at Sao Paulo from Orlando City, is widely seen as being past his best after a great career in Europe with the likes of AC Milan and Real Madrid, but made a surprise substitute appearance late on his side’s 2-0 win over Argentina this afternoon.
With Kaka being one of the biggest names in football in the last decade or so, Hernandez feels the player’s brand is being used to attract the interest of audiences in Beijing, and that the Brazilian’s return to the team after a lengthy absence is a marketing ploy rather than an effort to include him in the squad for the long run.
