Suarez left Anfield for Madrid’s great rivals FC Barcelona in the summer for a £75m fee and since then the Reds have struggled to rediscover the form they showed last season when the Uruguayan was in the starting XI.
Manager Brendan Rodgers did delve into the transfer market following the departure of the 27-year-old to the Nou Camp and bought two new forwards in the shape of Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli.
However, neither player has impressed since their arrival on Merseyside and now Rodgers has turned his attention towards Benzema.
The Northern Irishman is a big admirer of the 26-year-old, but convincing him to leave the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu could prove to be a difficult task.
That is because Benzema plays a pivotal role in Carlo Ancelotti’s side, spearheading a formidable attack that also includes Gareth Bale and current holder of the Ballon d’Or Cristiano Ronaldo.
The France international has also only recently signed a new contract with Los Blancos as well, which will keep him in the Spanish capital until 2019.
