The Uruguayan has not been at his best since his move to the French capital, and was heavily linked with a move away over the summer. Manchester United and Arsenal were thought to be the front runners, but with both teams strengthening in the striker position over the summer he may have to look somewhere else.
Zamparini, who brought Cavani to Palermo in 2007, believes Blanc for his handling of the 27-year-old, claiming he is the wrong coach for the former Napoli man and possibly for PSG as well.
“At the moment, Blanc does not understand Cavani”, Zamparini told France Football.
“PSG need a top coach. Blanc, I would put at 6.5 out of ten. But PSG deserve a coach that is at least 8 out of ten and not 6.5.”
“If he was not French he would not be the club’s coach.”
“Cavani likes to run all over the pitch and play the defender as well. Playing on the flanks is not his best position.”
“If he played as a second striker, alongside Ibra, it could work.”
It seems the solution is simple then, according to Zamparini. But will Laurent Blanc take his advice?
Cavani’s overall goalscoring record at PSG is not that bad at all in fairness. With 25 goals last season in all competitions as well as four goals in eight appearances this campaign he is definitely contributing to the team. Playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a difficult task however, and a lot was expected of Cavani after his reported €64m Euro move to the French champions.
With the club as a whole not performing as well as it should be this season so far, there could be even more reason for the big frontman to be planning his exit strategy. With PSG likely to want to recoup most, if not all, of their expenditure on the player however, he could find it difficult to secure a move anytime soon.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Man United have all been heavily linked to Cavani in the past.
