The Brazilian international has been in rock solid form for the Spanish champions in the last few years, establishing himself as one of the best defenders in Europe as he helped Diego Simeone’s side to an unlikely title victory in La Liga last term, as well as a superb run to the Champions League final.

The 30-year-old would no doubt make an excellent addition at Old Trafford, with United currently struggling for numbers at the back due to a large amount of injury problems, as well as a general lack of quality in that position.

The club tried to bring in other defensive players during the summer, but only managed to sign Argentine stopper Marcos Rojo from Sporting Lisbon after missing out on some other big-name targets.

Still, they could try again for Miranda in the near future, though it remains to be seen if his £27m asking price will prove a little much for the club to pay as they may consider other options after their heavy summer spending.
