The Dutch star has been repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent days with Louis van Gaal looking to reinforce his midfield in January.
However, Strootman’s current employers AS Roma have said that the midfielder is not for sale and have slapped a £60 million valuation on their star to ward off interested clubs like United.
With the Red Devils not wanting to break their record transfer again after paying £59.7 million for Angel Di Maria, van Gaal has had to revisit his interest in Vidal, who was heavily linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams during the summer.
Juventus weren’t willing to sell the Chilean international for anything less than £40 million during the summer and their position will probably be the same in January.
Their stance may have hardened even more by the turn of the year with manager Massimiliano Allegri unlikely to let one of his stars leave mid-way through the season.
However, for United, making a move for Vidal will almost certainly be cheaper than trying to sign Strootman.
