Rabiot has entered the final year of his current contract at the Parc des Princes and despite the fact PSG want to retain the midfielder, the 19-year-old is said to have his heart set on a move away.

The Ligue 1 champions postponed the Frenchman’s first meeting with Roma in the hope they could convince him to stay, but his agent (who is also his mother) intervened.

Although she does not want her son to move to the Stadio Olimpico – because they will not meet the wage demands – she is keen for him to enter negotiations with the Gunners.

The North London outfit are now in pole position to land Rabiot following Roma’s dismissal, with the other interested parties – Inter Milan and Juventus – currently staying quiet.

If it became a financial battle neither would be able to compete with Arsene Wenger’s side, so now the only question is whether the Premier League club really want the teenager.

Rabiot is a product of the PSG youth academy, breaking into the first team in 2012 and then spending six months on-loan with Toulouse the following year.

To date the France Under-21 international has played 43 times in all competitions for Laurent Blanc’s men.
