The Gunners have been tracking the highly-rated 19-year-old for some time now, and were linked with a move to bring him to the club this season, though a deal could not be completed in time.
However, Arsenal now hope to tie up a deal to bring Rabiot to north London on a free transfer in a year’s time, with the player currently into the final season of his contract with PSG.
The French giants have been determined to keep Rabiot at the Parc des Princes, though they will be unable to prevent him holding official talks with other clubs from January onwards.
The likes of Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and AS Roma have also shown a strong interest in the young Frenchman, but it looks as though Arsenal are leading the chase for his signature at the moment after holding unofficial talks with him and his agent during the recent international break.
Rabiot has been impressed by Arsenal and is keen to work under legendary boss Arsene Wenger, who has a great track record of bringing the best out of talented young players, and particularly those from his native France.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are delighted to be making significant progress on a deal that will see a top young player join the club for free, with a formal contract offer set to be discussed at the turn of the year.
Wenger has been keen to make new signings in midfield, and may be prioritising a move for Rabiot due to the likelihood that Sami Khedira looks set to snub the Gunners and sign for Chelsea instead.
