The Spanish giants face the prospect of losing German international star Sami Khedira on a free transfer next summer, with Chelsea a possible destination and Arsenal also monitoring his situation.
This would leave Real desperately short of defensive midfield options after losing Alonso to Bayern Munich late on in this summer’s transfer window, with manager Carlo Ancelotti struggling to find the time to bring in a replacement before the September 1st deadline.
Ramires has been linked with Real before, as well as with the likes of Barcelona and Juventus, and it could be that he will be allowed to move for the right price after falling behind the likes of Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
Still, the Brazilian international has all the qualities to play for a top club and is known to be a favourite of Madrid boss Ancelotti, who signed him during his time in charge of Chelsea between 2009 and 2011.
In what could end up being an effective player swap, Ramires would almost certainly be granted a move to the Bernabeu if Khedira could be snapped up by the Blues on a free transfer, though it may be that a deal would then be postponed until the summer.
Still, Real are keen to do business for a new midfielder in January, and have also been linked with the likes of Sporting Lisbon starlet William Carvalho and Inter Milan’s Fredy Guarin, also a target for Chelsea.
