Uruguayan keen on securing Premier League move, could he be Emirates Stadium bound?
Check in to Arsenal vs Crystal Palace
Arsenal have made an approach to sign PSG striker Edinson Cavani according to reports in the Metro.
The Uruguayan forward’s agent has confirmed that the north London side have made their interest in his client known, stating;
‘There has been much interest in the player during the last six months,’ Claudio Anelluci told El Telegrafo.
‘I can confirm that Cavani heard proposals from Liverpool and Arsenal.’
Indeed he further ‘talks up’ the possibility of such a move by stating
‘[Cavani] Already said he would love to play in England, but has not yet made a final decision.
‘He is not interested in money and fame; just want to be happy playing football.’
It’s not immediately clear if the approach is current or perhaps pre-dates the arrival of Alexis Sanchez but does at least show that the Emirates Stadium outfit are ambitious in their transfer dealings.
Cavani moved to the French capital last summer but is said to be unsettled and unhappy with playing in a wide attacking role so as to accommodate Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The former Napoli man is arguably a far better central striking option that French forward Olivier Giroud, who has been accused, perhaps harshly, of being too one dimensional and perennially static.
The 27 year old scored 104 goals in three seasons in Naples before moving to the Parc des Princes and managed 25 goals in all competitions last term.
