Tottenham Hotspur have also been chasing the Scot to take over from Hugo Lloris at White Hart Lane next season.

Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger is interested in signing highly rated Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall in a deal worth £15m this summer, according to reports in the Daily Telegraph.

Find out who are the most valuable players in world football.

The Scotland international has just enjoyed a brilliant campaign between the sticks for the south Wales outfit, despite his side’s eventual relegation from the Premier League that is, with Marshall being voted as the club’s Player of the Year.

And now as a result it is understood that the north London club are hoping to be able to lure Marshall to the Emirates to act as Wojciech Szczesny’s understudy in the capital next season with the Gunners’ current back-up keeper Lukasz Fabianski expecting to quit the club when his contract runs out at the end of June.

Marshall, 29, himself is contracted to the Principality outfit until June 2018, with the Bluebirds’ own manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer known to be desperate to keep hold of his shot stopper at the Cardiff City Stadium next season, although the Norwegian may now struggle to compete with Arsenal’s offer.
