Atletico Madrid’s march to a surprise La Liga title this term will apparently lead to their domestic rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid fighting it out to land Liverpool striker Luis Suarez according to the Daily Mail.

The arch rivals are set to start a bidding war in pursuit of the 27 year old Anfield star with talk of such a move breaking the £100m transfer barrier.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Bernabeu side have long been linked with an interest in the Uruguayan international but Barcelona’s push to bring in Suarez is a relatively new development and one wonders just where the Liverpool man would fit into the club’s attack.

Barcelona brought in Brazilian Neymar last summer and clearly any starting eleven would also need to make room for prized asset Lionel Messi so perhaps incoming boss Luis Enrique has designs on using the trio in a mouthwatering three pronged front-line.

Real Madrid would appear to want Suarez used in a central role with Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo in wide berths in what would be an equally amazing attack.

Liverpool would be loathed to lose their top-scorer but an offer of such a magnitude would be hard to turn down, especially if Suarez himself pushed for a move to Spain.

Suarez netted 31 goals in 32 Premier League appearances last term and also finished the campaign as the second highest assist maker in the English top tier.
